Here's one that I'm especially proud of,
in that ever since I began sharing it on the Internet it has been
popping up again and again on other people's sites and blogs too! I
suppose some artists might get upset when something like this happens,
but I think it's great exposure — both for myself and for the specific
work — being showcased alongside such luminaries of the fantasy art
field as Brian Froud and the Brothers Hildebrandt!
Yes indeed, my art has gone viral!!!
When you do a Google image search for anything from BILBO & TROLLS to
MIDDLE EARTH ART, this painting consistently shows up on page one and
has probably been seen thus by tens of thousands of people, maybe more.
This is a scene from THE HOBBIT, of
course, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien's classic tale which preceded and set
the stage for THE LORD OF THE RINGS. The Moon is setting as the trolls
argue amongst themselves, goaded on by Gandalf the Wizard who is
practicing ventriloquism at a distance in the background. Tied up in
bags inside the stone lined cave portal are the hobbit's companions
on the quest for The Lonely Mountain — the dwarves of Thorin's
company. When the Moon sets shortly, the Sun will rise and the trolls
caught unaware will turn into stone, then the members of the
dwarf cartel will be released and their adventure continue. One
artistic liberty: I included Bilbo more heavily in the action than
called for in the book. By this time he had actually scampered away and
was hiding in the bushes.
If you would like to acquire this painting, then head over to
eBay, where I've foolishly listed it with a paltry $65
start bid (I'm trying to attract out-of-area collectors, just in
case Grants Pass gets wiped out by an asteroid impact or oil
spill or something...)

...but I'll gladly tarnish my reputation by canceling the
auction if you pony up and pay my Own It Now price!
